A Perfect Murder

An astonishing track from The Glove's Blue Sunshine, a side-project of Robert Smith from The Cure and Steven Severin from Siouxsie & The Banshees. Jeanette Landray, who has some gorgeous and rich songs in a far too sparse discography, provided the main vocals for the album but doesn't appear on this song.

The Serpico Influence & Detective Rick Lee, Hipster Cops
HipsterCops is a new Tumblr created with the aim of exploring the unique phenomenon of the Hipster Cop. Although the phenomenon's profile is now raised thanks to Detective Rick Lee's presence at the Occupy Wall Street protest in New York City, it would be erroneous to imagine that Mr. Lee is its non plus ultra. He is nothing if not the heir to a lengthy and rich history, dating back past punks, hippies, beatniks and Zoot suit rioters to the very origins of the hipster itself.Topics covered on the blog include The Serpico Influence, The Hipster Cop in Literature, Korova, Dan Bejar of Destroyer, and much more.

Cargo Cult - Thums Up! Miami Bass & Baile Funk Mix

I came across an old trove of Miami Bass vinyl & cd-rips from way back last night and, being overtaken by the moment, decided to put together a scrappy, dirty mix of Miami Bass classics, covering the leading lights of the scene like 2 Live Crew, L'Trimm, Egyptian Lover, MC Shy D, and so forth, as well as a lot of related baile funk and southern bass track that don't necessarily fit , but don't feel out of place. Except for INOJ. INOJ always sounds out of place.
