Finally Taking the Giant Down .... ?!

Everyone loves Michael Moore. Maybe not though....

Michael and Me

The film-maker who could help to bring down Bush has been larging it at Cannes. He has made millions asking awkward questions of corporate America. But there are a few awkward questions we'd like to ask him... Read More...

Wow. That is one laser-guided missile of an article, aimed squarely at Michael Moore's baseball-capped head.

Does staying at a glitzy hotel, or not being regarded as a people person, make Michael Moore a bad guy? He sends his daughter to private school? Many wealthy folks try to spare their children the drudgery and chronic underfunding of public school. Although this interview does point out that Michael Moore is stinking rich, that doesn't nullify his value as a prolific, talented filmmaker.

Nobody is 100 percent honest. Everybody fibs (I still haven't paid my taxes from 2002 but let's keep that between us, ok?) but you have to distinguish between the little lies and the big ones.

I think that it is safe to say that Mr. Moore is mostly a successful director with a lot of money to burn and somewhat of a conscience--if all Michael wanted was money, he could have retired and lived off of the royalties from his movies--and also a keen eye for splicing celluloid. What he isn't is a big liar.

On the other hand, Michael's perpetual foe, George W. Bush, is an enthusiast of the Gargantuan, enormous lie. He's like a kid who just dropped a jug of juice on the floor in plain view and who holds up his grape-stained palms and says "It wasn't me".

(One other thing: is it just me or did this Brit writer bring up Totalitarian Communist regimes several times during the interview/article? He compares Michael Moore to some Soviet Propagandist and also mentions that the applause for Moore's film reminded him of the raucous applause that would follow a Stalin speech. Methinks the limey has a beef with the Golden Boy from Michigan. Either that, or he's the UK equivalent of Tucker Carlson, the yammering fool from Crossfire with that hideous bowtie cutting off his circulation.)

That was like reading the Ken Starr report. Who the fuck cares? If he makes a few less people vote for George Bush, I'm all for him. Why don't you spend your time critiquing somehtign that makes the world a worse place?
Boring and lazy.

So, you're going with the means to an end sorta argument? I might consider throwing my support behind the Lyndon Larouchites standing outside of McGill right now then...
